Taking care of staff is vital to the success of a company! That is why Centax Telecom participates in the European WHP (Workplace Health Promotion) program, aimed at promoting good practices (nutrition, the fight against smoking, exercise, road safety) in order to improve the work environment, the well-being of the team and the company’s consequent productivity.
How to promote proper nutrition in the company? Here are a few examples. We decided to make fresh fruit available to all our employees once a week; we have hung food pyramids and the INRAN manual in snack areas and asked our vending machine suppliers to provide alternatives (juices, bars, fruit) in keeping with the Mediterranean diet.
To help our employees quit smoking, we have organised an in-house company course! A number of studies have shown that facing certain subject areas in one’s social/work setting increases the percentages of success! Then we created the «Quit and Win» contest as an incentive for participants to be successful in good practices and asked our corporate physician to support all our smoker employees with awareness campaigns.
How much exercise is necessary to stay fit? Only 30 minutes a day! To spread this good practice, we have hung signs in the company inviting employees to use the stairs instead of the lift. We also organised two non-competitive walks through the streets of our city and made an agreement with a gym that is close to our premises.
How to make employees more aware of the importance of Road Safety and Sustainable Mobility? After examining the habits of employees during their job-home commute, we set up a communication system as an incentive for car sharing / car pooling. We rewarded those who normally use a bicycle and public transportation to get around.
Alcohol and drug abuse is a very delicate yet extremely current topic. We were able to organise several meetings with our corporate physician to raise awareness on the subject. A rule forbidding the sale, distribution and the possibility of consuming alcohol at the work place has been inserted into the company regulations and a substantial information campaign (emails, videos, posters) was launched.
How to contribute to the Personal and Social Well-being of our employees? Each year we organise a company event to thank our staff members for all the work done and to share the goals that have been achieved. We sponsor two sports associations for kids and support the «Adotta il talento» (Adopt A Talent) project in collaboration with the University of Bergamo, destined for students devoted to research.
